In several rooms
Unlike Boxes, it is possible to multiply Apple TVs in different rooms of the house. Each user can use their own settings.
Nvidia Shield in my setup?
The Nvidia Shield comes in two versions:
- Shield TV - 8GB expandable memory via Micro SD - Stick format
- Shield TV Pro - 16GB expandable memory via Micro SD - A6 format
If you have problems with Wi-Fi reception, an RJ45 interface allows you to connect via wire. A single eARC-compatible HDMI port naturally connects to your TV.
If you have other peripherals like a game console or a Blu Ray player you can connect them to the other available HDMI ports. If you are used to the Google ecosystem, setting up your Nvidia Shield TV will be very smooth in just a few minutes.
Nvidia Shield TV and the sound then?
Since there is no physical audio output on the box, there are several methods to achieve quality listening:
HDMI ARC retrieves the sound generated by Apple TV and will transmit it in different formats (stereo, Dolby Atmos or 3D) to the television which will reproduce the sound with the internal speakers which are rarely of good quality.
You can optimize the installation by adding a sound bar using an optical cable. Indeed, the HDMI eARC being already occupied this will be the only way with the disadvantage of having to turn it on manually.
Do you have HiFi speakers and would you like to integrate them into your setup?
Octavio Amp presents itself as a very versatile solution to complement your Nvidia Shield TV. Indeed, its optical input will allow you to reproduce the sound of your TV on your Hifi speakers, but also other sources such as a turntable, a CD player or your favorite streaming service
Installation is a snap from your Nvidia Shield TV menu.
Image & sound synchronization
One of the difficulties of using wireless in a home cinema installation is respecting lip sync. Indeed, the different treatments generally cause a latency which manifests itself by a gap between the sound and the image which is extremely penalizing on the dialogues of the soundtracks of your films or during Talk Shows, clips and news magazines.
Nvidia Shield TV x Octavio Amp succeeds brilliantly and offers a stereo HiFi solution capable of reproducing sound fidelity while respecting lip synchronization.
